General


If you are driving to school, DO NOT PARK AT NEW TECH HIGH SCHOOL! Their parking lot is for New Tech staff and students. NHS students must park in front of the gym in areas designated for student parking.


Titan Honor Court Applications are now available. What is Titan Honor Court you may ask? It is a special group of Juniors who have been selected to help with Senior Week activities up to and including graduation. Honor Court members must have at least a 3.5 GPA, always demonstrate Titan Pride and be willing to put in extra hours the last week of school. Interested? Applications are available on the Activities Office Counter. Questions? See Mrs. Anderson or Mr. McConnell.


Due to SBAC testing, the library will be closed Tuesday through Friday this week. This includes Break and Lunch. All library books must be returned to the library by this Friday, May 22nd. Any textbooks that you are done with can be returned as well. Everything should be placed in the large bin outside of the library front door. Please do not bring them inside and disrupt the testing.


Titans! Get pumped for Titan Olympiad Week, May 26th through the 29th. It will be a week filled with fun festivities like the Boat Regatta, Battle of the Sexes, Final Rally and our annual Powder Puff Game!

Tuesday is pink vs blue
Wednesday is wear stripes
Thursday is Powder Puff, so wear the colors to represent your class –
Seniors are Black, Juniors are Cardinal, Sophomores are Silver and Freshmen are White.
Friday is College wear – wear any college gear for our Final Rally!


Powder Puff Cheer practice for Juniors and Seniors only will be on the grass in front of the English classrooms on Friday, May 19th through the 21st from 3:15 – 5pm. Anyone interested needs to go see or contact Mr. McConnell to sign up. Game day is Thursday, May 26th. Again, only
Juniors and Seniors please.


Students wanting to participate in the Boat Regatta, forms are available in the Activities Office! Forms are due today and the competitive event is on May 26th.


Please take care of any student debt or outstanding textbooks as soon as possible. You must be clear to participate in Senior activities.


Tutoring is available Monday through Friday in the Library from 3:00 to 4:00.


Are you thinking about your future? Want to learn more about a variety of careers? Come to Career Talks in room 129 during the month of May! There will be a number of presenters including a NASA engineer, Real Estate Agents, Veterinarians, and a Paramedic. Sign up in the Activities office! Want more info? See Ms. Sheridan (room105), Ms. Shakeri (room 129), or Ms. Li (room 144). Check posters around school for a calendar of dates & presenters.


Clubs and Classes


Juniors! The deadline to register for the June 13th ACT test is this Friday. Sign up at actstudent.org, or see your counselor for more details.


ETS will meet today in the library computer lab at lunch.


FCA meets today in room 117 at lunch.


This evening, our very own Titan musicians will be featured in stellar concert with two professional guest performers from the east coast. The concert begins at 6:00p in Olympic Hall - Tickets are $5 for students/staff and $8 for community members (refreshments are complimentary). Come join the Pop Music Ensembles, Pep Band, and Jazz Combo for an awesome evening of music!


Do you love to sing? Are you interested in joining CHOIR?! Come to the Forum Thursday May 21st at lunch for a short informational meeting for opportunities to sing and enjoy music. Join the fun! Thursday May 21st, for the first 15 minutes of lunch - see you there!


Key Club’s last meeting of the year is today at lunch in Ms. Hatfield’s room, 150. Come meet the new officers for next year!


Seniors

Community Service


Attention students (especially Juniors and Seniors) - Nipomo Elementary School needs your help at their Book Fair tonight. Students are needed starting at 5:00 pm. See Mrs. Carter in the office if you can help at Nipomo Elementary School this Wednesday evening. Students will earn up to 5 hours of community service.


Friday, May 29th at Fairgrove Elementary school. Help the young Falcons celebrate the end of the school year. Tasks include setting up games and activities and supervising elementary school kids while they play. For more details, email [email protected] or call 305-3735.


Need community service hours? Help the Five Cities Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary place flags on the graves of Veterans, Saturday, May 23rd of Memorial Day Weekend and then remove them Monday evening, May 25th. See Mrs. Lattimer in counseling for more information.


Sports


NHS Athletic Health Screening night is Thursday, May 21st!


The 2015-16 Sports Clearance Packets are on sale now in the NHS Activities Office before school, at break, lunch and after school until 3:15 daily. The cost for the Packet and Sports Clearance night is $75 and includes an ASB card sticker for next school year. Every student athlete must be cleared prior to participating and that includes summer practices. The Health Screening is Thursday, May 21st from 6 – 8pm in the NHS gym. Please bring your completed forms with you.
