Don’t be disappointed – Homecoming Dance tickets will be on sale soon, but to be eligible to purchase one you must have your student debts all paid up. Check the list at the Activities Office if you think you may have a balance due!

As you probably know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But did you know that it is also Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month? Sudden Cardiac Arrest, or SCA, is the leading cause of death for adults in the US, and claims nearly 10 times as many lives as breast cancer. To learn about how you can help fight SCA, talk to Public Safety students who are wearing red and white bracelets this month to show that they are Sudden Cardiac Arrest Aware. Ask Coach Lindgren about CPR certification opportunities on campus and in your community, and he'll reward you with a bracelet that shows that you too, are Sudden Cardiac Arrest Aware!

Library news: Tomorrow morning Book Club will be having its October meeting. Join us at 7am in the library to discuss the books you read last month and pick out this month's selection.

Career counseling today in room 128 during lunch! Mrs. Davis will be walking students through personality assessments and career exploration. Stop by room 128 today for more information!

If you purchased an ASB sticker and it does not show on your ID card, please come to the Activities Office and get your card remade.

Attention girls! Some jewelry has been found in the girl’s locker room. If you have recently lost a ring or necklace, check in with Ms. Belo or Ms. Swaim in girls PE office.

Guest Passes for the Homecoming Dance are now available on the Activities Office counter. They are due no later than October 13th at 3pm.

Warning - non permitted vehicles parked on campus will be ticketed. Parking permits are available for $15 in the Activities Office. Reminder– student parking area is in front of the gym.

Sierra Nevada College, located near Lake Tahoe, is hosting a Fall Preview Day on Friday, November 6. Sit in on a class, tour the beautiful 18 acre campus, and meet with Admissions to help you through the application process. For further information, see Mrs. Furling in the library.

Allan Hancock College Career Day is this Friday, October 9th! If your name is on the list, go to Olympic Hall right after 1st period ends to load bus. Bus will leave NHS at 9:00am and you will be back on Nipomo high school's campus by 12:45pm. Lunch will be provided by the college.

Please check with the counseling office to see if you your name is on the list to attend the Allan Hancock College Career day this Friday, October 9th! The list will be available this Wednesday and Thursday. If your name is not on the list, you are not able to attend this field trip. Juniors and Seniors have top priority.

Do you have career plans after you graduate from Nipomo High School? Let Cuesta College help you! Cuesta College is holding their annual Cuesta Promise Day for all local seniors Friday, October 23!! Students will be able to tour the campus, lunch will be provided, FREE t-shirts and giveaways throughout the day. Information will also be provided on scholarships, including the Promise Scholarship which guarantees a free full year of college tuition to all Nipomo High School graduates. The bus will leave NHS at 8:45 am and you will be back on Nipomo High Schools campus by 1:45pm. Don't wait! Pick-up a field trip permission slip at the Counseling Office today and return it to the Counseling Office no later than the end of lunch on Tuesday, October 13th!! First 50 students to sign up will be able to attend this field trip. DON'T MISS OUT!

Hey sophomores! Are you interested in working on the sophomore float for our Haunted Homecoming? If so, come to room 102 at lunch today for an informational meeting!

Attention Actors! Auditions for the Greek Tragedy “Media” will be held next Monday and Tuesday, October 12 and 13, in the Forum after school. For more information and to sign up for an audition time, go to room 110.

It is National Yearbook Week (yes, it is a real thing). Purchase your yearbook this week and you will be entered into a drawing for one of 2 pairs of tickets for the homecoming dance! Winners will be announced during the rally on October 12th. Eligibility rules for activity participation will apply. Yearbook prices are $65 with an ASB sticker and $70 without.

Juniors--The PSAT Test will be offered at Nipomo High School on Wednesday, October 14th, from 8:00 - 11:00 in the morning. The PSAT is the practice test for the SAT College admissions tests. All juniors who take the test will automatically be entered into the National Merit Scholarship competition. Tickets for juniors who take the test are $20.00, and can be purchased in the activities office. All sophomores at NHS will be taking the test on the 14th as well, and sophomore test fees will be paid for by the school district. Remember to test your best!

Come on out and test your Frisbee skills every Friday from 3:00 – 5:00 on the athletic fields!
