General

Library News – This week kicks off our Storybook Pumpkin Contest. Dress up a pumpkin as your favorite book character to win prizes such as movie passes and free food! All submissions are due Friday, Oct. 20th. Stop by the library for more information and complete rules.

Clubs/Classes

Friday Frisbee, on back fields from 3 – 5. Bring water!


Key Club Fall Rally tickets (paid up members only) will be $30. The completed form (available from Ms. Alton or Ms. Cable Rm 143 and at Key Club meeting) and money must be in to the Activities Office today.

Juniors...today is the deadline to buy your PSAT ticket...remember this is your chance to enter the National Merit Scholarship contest by taking the test on Saturday! Sophomores and freshmen, remember, you can now take the test as well...see how well prepared you are for college. Seats are limited. Don't delay, get yours today! Tickets are $20.00, and can be purchased in the activities office... The test is tomorrow in Olympic Hall. Check in at 7:45, test is from 8:00 -12:00 noon.

All students taking the PSAT tomorrow: Please check in at 7:45 at Olympic Hall. Remember your calculator, pencils, and snacks. Get some sleep tonight, and good luck!

Career Center

Attention all students, College Night SLO is scheduled for October 30th from 5:00pm - 8:45pm at Cuesta College. We will have buses departing from our school at 4:00pm and returning at 7:30pm. Please see Mrs. Hirase in the Career Center if you would like to sign-up to attend.

The Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising will be here on Thursday, the 19th. Please sign up in the Career Center to attend this exciting presentation as well as any others that you our interested in attending.

Please join up for our Tuesday workshop on Financial Aid. A representative from Grand Canyon University will be here to answer all of your questions and explain the process.


Seniors

Seniors! Did you hear that you all just got a $1,000 scholarship? Yes, that's right, Cuesta College is offering all seniors in SLO County FREE college for a year! Learn more about the Cuesta Promise Scholarship and more about Cuesta at Cuesta Promise Day on Friday, October 20th, from 9:00 - 1:30. There will be tours, exhibits of Cuesta programs and classes, music, a free lunch, and prize giveaways! Sign up in the counseling office for a spot on the bus, today!

Sports

Boys Soccer Hopefuls - Boys Soccer Tryouts will take place October 23, 24, and 25. Yes, come to all three days. Tryouts will be 4pm - 6pm on each of these three days. NHS Fields behind Softball Field. Reminder that you must have a valid physical on file and have completed Family ID registration in order to tryout. See Mrs. Teixeira in the Activities Office to get Family ID registration information.

Attention all Girls Water Polo players or girls interested in playing water polo this year. There will be a mandatory meeting in Mr. Lindgren's room (148) at Break (10:00) today. See you there!


All students trying out for a sport or doing preseason workouts must have their Family ID information on file as well as a current sports physical from a doctor. See Mrs. Teixeira or Mr. Deichler for more information.
