Denno

Welcome to Nipomo High School!

We are incredibly excited to start the 2023-24 school year and we continue to appreciate your trust in our staff to care for, guide, mentor and teach your children.  Driven by our staff’s core values of High Expectations, Community, Collaboration and Accountability we are committed to ensuring your student is Career, College and Community Ready upon graduation.

Last spring we were awarded a six-year accreditation validating the work we are committed to.  The length of this accreditation reflects WASC's trust in our work and direction.  There will be a one day check-in during the Spring of 2021 and as we have only begun our recent journey, I feel it is to our benefit to have a "check-in" at three years to ensure we are continuing down the right path.

Thanks to our community’s support for Measure I a year ago November, we continue making improvements to our physical campus.  Last spring we assumed full occupancy of our new CTE Agriculture classrooms and this fall we begin use of our new shop and adjoining classroom.  The roadways to access our campus were recently resurfaced and striped and, to further support a secure campus, the installation of a Safety Video System is taking place to provide coverage of key on-campus areas, entries, and exits.

After a year of having schoolwide WiFi, we continue to promote a blended learning environment and many of our teachers are using Google Classroom and G-Suite to enrich student learning and expand access to curriculum and resources beyond the instructional day.  This year we are excited about significantly increasing the number of chromebooks, and it is anticipated that by the end of the fall semester students will have access to a device in each of their English, Math, Science and Social Science classrooms. Students are still encouraged to use personal devices to access and produce work during and outside of the regular day, however a personal device is not required.

Our commitment to your student’s success is ongoing and for a second year we are thrilled to offer an after school program as well as a late bus with limited stops to support student access.  All participating students will also be eligible for a free supper. High school after school programs are voluntary and unlike K-8 programs, students can come and go as they desire. Please stay tuned for more information, as our after school program will begin the week of September 3rd.

Your involvement in your child’s education is always desired and we will continue our Parent Education Program or PEP Talks, to improve our communication and guidance about navigating high school and preparing for college and career.  We also have several opportunities for parent/community involvement through our School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee. Please contact us if you are interested.

Great things are happening at Nipomo High School, and we look forward to continuing to impress you and our entire community with pride.
