Many people are aware of the fact that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. But did you know that it is also Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month? Sudden Cardiac Arrest, or SCA, can occur with people who have no previous symptoms and kills over 400,000 Americans each year, which is almost 10 times more than the amount that die from Breast Cancer! About 9 out of 10 people who experience SCA die, but the survival rate is greatly increased when a bystander performs CPR and AED access is available and used quickly. We have three AED's on campus...do you know where they are? For more information about you can become CPR certified and help fight SCA, visit Mr. Lindgren or Mrs. Long.
