PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Titans and Titan Families,

With a little more sunshine, we hope you had an enjoyable weekend and are looking forward to the Memorial Day, three day weekend ahead. This Wednesday, May 22nd, is a minimum day with students released at 12:20PM.

We're thrilled to announce that Nipomo High School has earned a SILVER medal for your 2023-2024 Career Choices series program! This recognition showcases the ongoing dedication, teamwork, and innovation our teachers have poured into preparing your students for their future careers. Thank you Ms. Leek and Mr. Miller!

In recognition of their excellent work, from Career Choices we’ll be receiving a medal award, a colorful display banner, and a celebration box for our team. Additionally, Career Choices will spotlight our program on a dedicated section of their website and across their social media platforms. Below, we added the official Career Choices Silver Medal image.

FRESHMAN

Uplevel your study skills: This is a good time to review what worked and what didn’t this year, and set some intentions moving forward.

SOPHOMORES

Think about life after high school. Do you want to attend a career/technical college (trade school, beauty college, etc.), join the U.S. Armed Services, join an apprenticeship program, start your career, attend a 4-year university, or go to community college? If you don’t know yet, now is a good time to take online assessments through your California Colleges Account to do some exploration.
Take advantage of summer break and complete your 20 hours of community service NOW. Check out our website for community service ideas and access our community service log.

JUNIORS

Ask teacher(s) for letters of recommendation you’ll need in the fall: Many teachers cap the number of letters they’ll write, so it’s good to make the ask early. They may write your letter this summer while your work and contributions to the classroom are fresh in their mind

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS:
English 9—---------------------------------	Students will continue reading To Kill a Mockingbird, using a variety of reading and note-taking strategies. Students will learn an overview of the American legal system and define terms related to it, applying the terms to our chapters.
English 10—-------------------------------	Students will track theme, conflict, and character development in Persepolis (told in graphic novel format). Students will compare the political context of the memoir to other countries' histories.
English 11—-------------------------------	Students will practice reading comprehension by reading and analyzing the novel Dear Martin by Nic Stone and taking notes in a reading log.
English 12—-------------------------------	How can we become adults who demonstrate resilience, confidence, purpose, and passion? How can we enter the real world ready to fail, persevere, and make impactful change? How can we demonstrate empathy and compassion to others?

HEALTH / TECH. SEMINAR:
Tech. Seminar------------—----------------	Students will be able to identify their components of lifestyle when they are 29 years old.
