General

Coney Island is an international place so wear your tacky tourist outfit to fit the adventures tomorrow or fit the boardwalk feel of dressing up in beach attire.

Students! Jose Hernandez, a retired NASA Astronaut and first generation college student will be speaking at Hancock College on Tuesday, March 28th from 12:30 - 2:00 to inspire students to "Reach for the Stars." His speech is entitled "Launching the Next Generation" and is intended to motivate all students to attend college and create a great future. Sign up in the counseling office if you are interested in attending.

The Educate, Si Se Puede Conference is on Friday, March 31st from 9:00 - 2:00 pm at Cuesta College. It is a conference primarily for Latino and Latina High School students, but all students are welcome. Sign up for a spot in the counseling office or see Mr. Hubbell for more informacion. Si se Puede!

The votes have been tallied, and it’s official! We will be having a Spring Dance on Saturday, March 25th in the gym. It is a casual dance, so show up and be ready to have some spring time fun under black lights! Pre-sale tickets are on sale now in the Activities Office. $5 with ASB, $10 without. Cost at the door will be $15 with ASB and $20 without. There will be no guest passes for this dance as it is an NHS only event.

After school tutoring is available in the library from 3:00-4:00 every Monday - Thursday.

Renaissance members don’t forget! If you have not picked up your Renaissance cards, they can be found at Mrs. Lattimer’s desk in the office.


Current Upward Bound students – yearly renewal applications and applications for Summer Academy are BOTH due by April 7th. Pick up the forms at Tuesday’s After School Sessions or on the Cal Poly Upward Bound website – www.sas.calpoly.edu/ub .


Seniors

Many scholarships are due soon, so go to nhstitans.org under Academics and click Scholarships OR check your LMUSD email address for more info.

There are currently 52 tickets left for Grad Night at Universal Studios. Get yours soon for $85 in the Activities Office.



Community Service

If you need to accrue some community service hours, please sign up for opportunities to do so on the clipboard outside of Mr. Meloncon's office. There are opportunities to work as a food bank volunteer, tutor for elementary students in Guadalupe, or be a mentor buddy for an elementary student at a Nipomo area elementary school. Direct any questions to Mr. Meloncon in the counseling department.


On Saturday April 8, 2017 the Nipomo Recreation Association is having their annual Kids Day in the Park. If you need community service hours, please contact Jeff Long at 805-215-9295, or come by the office which is located in the gym now, or email him at [email protected].
