General


Mental Health Awareness Month! It is important to take care of yourself:

Hydration - Did you drink enough water today?

Hygiene - Be sure to brush your teeth, shower, wear clean clothes, wash your face

Activity - Have you moved today? Get off the couch and get 30 minutes of activity. Go for a walk!

Rest - Getting enough rest improves memory, sharpens attention, lowers stress

Recharge - Do something today that you love. Visit a friend, walk on the beach, go to a movie, play with your dog.


To celebrate May as mental health awareness month, we want to make sure that you have a tool to destress. To help you cope, as finals approach come to the quad at lunch on tomorrow, May 9th, to create your own stress ball. Let's make this a stress free campus and strive to do great things! See you in the quad, TOMORROW at lunch for some positive coping strategies!


Juniors, honor court applications are now out! You can pick them up in the Activities Office or get on from Taylor Robertson. They are due, Thursday, May 16th to Mrs. Anderson. DO NOT HESITATE, let’s help make Senior Week memorable, you’re up next year!


Clubs / Classes


Students, don’t forget to enter your artwork for the Anime’s Club Anitoon Drawing Contest. You may enter one piece of artwork to Ms. Xiong. The drawing may be of a cartoon character, marvel and/or superhero. All entries will be posted in the library and voting will be done by staff members. Winners will be announced on May 17th. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Xiong in Room 16 in the office.


Please join BStrongLife club every Thursday at lunch for life inspiration and encouragement. As usual, we will have plenty of pizza, prizes and this week t-shirt giveaways and club wristbands. Don't miss our special guest speaker this week Nidya Provencio. Invite your friends!

Listen up Nipomo! This Friday, May 10th is the last Dance Company show and it’s one night only. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7:00pm at the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande. Cheer your Dance Company on one last time and come watch this show stopping performance.


Titans! Robotics Premier Party, today in Room 30C at lunch! Come join Titan Robotics and help us strategize for the new year. New comers always welcome.

Career Center / Library

 

Library News: Only 2 after school library events are left this year! TODAY we will be making marbled mugs. Only 15 spots available so hustle to the library right after school. We'll start at 3pm. And on Wednesday, May 22nd we'll be playing BINGO 3-4:30pm for prizes such as restaurant gift cards, books, and candy!

 

Career Center: Are you thinking about a Career in the Air Force? NHS alumni, Rody Canton, will be here with other service members today in the Library to talk about what a future in the Air Force may look like for you. Presentations will occur throughout the day, so please see Mrs. Hirase in the Career Center to sign up to attend one. You must sign up in order to attend.

 

Are you over 18 and looking for a temporary job with a flexible schedule? Does making $20 an hour interest you? If so, you may want to consider working for the 2020 Census Team. Please visit the Career Center for more information.

 

Seniors

 

Seniors! If you pre-ordered your cap and gown, they are here in the Activities Office for you to pick up!

 

Seniors, please turn in your community service forms to Mrs. Mendez in the office. If you have any questions regarding your hours or how to earn community service hours, please see Ms. Xiong, also in the office- room 16. You are required a total of 20 hours for graduation. Don’t wait till the last minute!

 

Community Service

 

Do you love puppies? Doggie Does Good is a local service dog training facility here in Nipomo. We are looking for some people to come out to our facility to socialize our service dog puppies, exercise our service dogs in training, and go out on field trips with some of our service dog trainers. If interested we are having a volunteer orientation this Saturday, May 11th at 11am. You must attend the volunteer orientation. To enroll in the class or to find out more information, contact Amanda at 805-473-1701.

 

Sports

 

Attention students: If you are going to be participating in NHS Athletics next year, the 2019-20 Family ID registration is now open. Instructions for completion can be found on the NHS Athletics page and if you have any questions please swing by room 134 and speak with Assistant Athletic Director Mr. Deichler. Thanks.

 

Attn: Girls interested in playing summer Basketball, there is an informational meeting with Coach Mendez in the Forum at the beginning of lunch TODAY.

 

Attention all girls interested in Powder Puff. Packets are due this Friday! Don't miss out on an opportunity to show off your skill and represent your class! If you need a packet please get one in room 113 or at the activities office. Again, the due date is FRIDAY!
