October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month…
Abuse in relationships doesn't only affect adults or married couples. One in three adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner, a figure that far exceeds rates of other types of youth violence. But you can be the change! Start by treating everyone around you with respect--whether you're dating or not--and hold people you care about accountable for how they treat others. Don't stand for intimidation, threats, name-calling, put-downs, or offensive jokes.
**Stand Strong disclaimer: If you or anyone you know is experiencing abuse, you can call the Stand Strong 24-hour Crisis & Information line at (805) 781-6400.
Did you know that Breast Cancer is one of the most common cancers among American women? Tomorrow, we will be wearing pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness. There will be a miracle minute at lunch on Friday and during the football game. Any donations will be appreciated. All donations will be going directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
