The 2020 NHS Poetry Out Loud winner is Toireasa-Marie O'Rourke. She will be competing at the SLO County Competition on Friday, Feb 7th. Check Mr. Shields's door for more info.

Titans, do you remember your childhood? Weren’t those the good old days? Next week is our Winter Spirit Week where you will be able to relive childhood with “Childhood Rewind, Back to the Good Old Days!” There will be dress up days, lunchtime activities and a rally at the end of the week, all designed to take you back to childhood. We start the week off with “Throwback to Naptime” so wear your favorite pajamas or bring a blanket and a cherished stuffed animal. Daily treats will be given to those who dress up!

The Great Gatsby Winter Formal will be held on Saturday, February 1st at Mountainbrook Church in SLO. Have you purchased your Winter Formal tickets yet? Prices tomorrow are now $30 w/ASB card and $40 w/out. Last day to purchase tickets is Thursday, January 30th.

Do you plan on taking a non-NHS student to Winter Formal? If so, be sure to have them fill out a guest pass (available on the Activities Office counter) and turn it in by Friday, January 24th-that’s TOMORROW!

Clubs / Classes

The FIDM fashion club will meet this TODAY in the Career Center at lunch. If you are interested in design or marketing, then FIDM might be the college for you. Come learn about FIDM and the scholarships our club offers.

Attention all those interested in board games and card games. The Magic the Gathering Club is meeting in Mr. Deichler's room 134 to nerd out and play some games. See you there.

#BStrongLife Club will meet at the Forum today during lunch. Free pizza and fun with the crew. Everyone is welcome!

Fishing Club meets today in Room 152 at lunch. Let’s catch up, invite your friends as well!

The Nipomo GSA meets at lunch today, starting at 12:35pm, in room 908 on the CCNTH campus. Please see Mr. Schroter for a pass to return to class at the end of the meeting.

National Honor Society is holding a mandatory meeting today at lunch. Come to Mr. Houchin’s room, room 114, for important updates.

Career Center / Library

Sgt. Romero of the U.S. Army will be on campus in the quad at lunch on Monday, 1/27 to answer your questions about opportunities in the Army.

Juniors and Seniors: If you want to take the ASVAB Career Exploration Program assessment, sign up in the Career Center with Mrs. O TODAY. The assessment will be given on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. More information will be coming up soon.

Community Service

There are LOTS of opportunities to get those community service hours! Arroyo Grande Parks and Rec needs help with decorating and staffing for a banquet on Friday, January 31, and help with the Senior Tech Clinic coming up from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22. See Mrs. O in the Career Center for more information about these community service opportunities with Arroyo Grande Recreation.

Sports

The NHS Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played Orcutt Academy on Tuesday afternoon to decide first place in the Ocean League as both teams had identical 7-1 records. Heleen Mott scored on assist from Hayde Gallardo with the Titans ahead at the end of the 1 st period. Orcutt tied the game in regulation play and the game remained 1-1 at the end of the overtime period. Orcutt would prevail on penalty kicks and now leads the Ocean League with an 8-1 record while the Titans are firmly in second place with a 7-2 record. The Titans host Templeton on Friday at 6:00 pm and hope to rebound from only their second loss of the season.
