The second Blood Drive of the year is tomorrow.  Didn’t get a chance to sign up? Come out to the table on the quad today at lunch.




The 2020 NHS Poetry Out Loud winner is Toireasa-Marie O'Rourke. She will be competing at the SLO County Competition on Friday, Feb 7th. Check Mr. Shields's door for more info.

 

Attention Juniors, are you interested in taking the SAT during the school day?  Do you have weekend obligations or transportation issues that would keep you from being able to participate in a regular Saturday SAT administration? NHS has a great opportunity to help you to get ready for college: the SAT School Day, Wednesday, March 25th.  Please check your student email to register and for payment instructions. Please see Mrs. M&M in the counseling office with any questions. Payment and registration MUST be completed no later than Friday, February 14th."




Attention all Titans, the Bolt Booth will be open today during break. Turn in your Titan Bolts for some deserved rewards at the outside window next to the Activities Office.

 

Don’t forget that tomorrow is Higher Education Thursday! College, military and anything related to education after highschool is encouraged to be worn every Thursday! Join in on the school spirit and always dream big, Titans!




Clubs / Classes

The Interact Club will NOT be meeting today due to a field trip.  The meeting will be held tomorrow, Thursday, at lunch in the Career Center. Questions?  See Mrs. O.




Which do you like better,  Panda Express or Chipotle? Well you don’t have to choose because we will be having a fundraiser at both places on the same day!  HOSA is a new chapter at NHS for students who want to be further health professionals and learn about the medical field and how to provide quality health care to all people.  The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, February 8th. You can go to Panda Express in Santa Maria ALL DAY or Chipolte between 4:00 and 8:00 pm. Make sure to mention that you are here to support NHS HOSA.




Chess and Pizza. Name a more iconic duo.  To celebrate the generous donation of several tournament chess sets, the Chess Club is having a pizza party in room 146 on Thursday, February 13th at lunch.  To sign up, get the code from Mr. Storm in room 146.




Friday Night Live club is having their meeting today at lunch in Room 149. Grab a friend and come check it out to meet new people, learn leadership skills, and plan fun activities and campaigns for the whole campus! 




The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be having their weekly meeting on Wednesdays during lunch in Room 117. You do not need to be Christian or an athlete to attend. All are welcome! Stop by, bring a friend and learn about our club and our faith. 




The FIDM fashion club will meet this Thursday in the Career Center at lunch. If you are interested in design or marketing, then FIDM might be the college for you.  Come learn about FIDM and the scholarships our club offers.

Sports

Do you want to meet new people, try a new sport, get a tan? Maybe Swim and Dive is the spring sport for you. Everybody makes the team, no tryouts, no experience is necessary. If you are interested stop by room 138 at lunch or break and talk to Coach Bellew or stop by the pool after school and talk to Coach Bellew or Coach King. 




Boys' volleyball tryouts start Monday, Feb 10th at 3:00. This is mandatory for ALL players who are not currently in a winter sport. If you are currently in a winter sport, your first official day is Wednesday, Feb 12th at 3:00. Tryouts will run through Friday, Feb 14th. Attendance is mandatory for ALL players at the JV & varsity levels. You need to be cleared by the NHS athletic department before you tryout. The Titans' girls soccer team won their final Ocean League game of the season by defeating Mission Prep 1-0.  Senior Hayde Gallardo scored when the Mission Prep goalie mishandled the free kick from Annette Vargas and Hayde put the ball into the goal.  Titan goalie, Alexis Acosta recorded her 8th shutout of the season behind her solid defensive teammates. The Titans ended the season with a 9-3 record in the Ocean League and will be preparing for the CIF Central Section play-offs beginning the week of February 10th.
