General

Students invited to Titan Awards Ceremony on Thursday night, please see Mrs. Carter in the office if you still need to let her now how many will be attending. It's not too late!

The Library is closed for AP testing until Friday, May 17th. A book drop will be placed outside for text and library book returns. Ms. Stoneman will be outside at break and lunch to collect fines and books. Please do not disturb test-takers.

Do you want to create a boat out of duct tape and cardboard during Titan Olympiad week? Come get packets in the Activities Office starting today for more information. Packets are due at the mandatory meeting on May 15th at lunch in the ASB room. Good luck to all you sailors!

Cheer Program packets are available on the Activities Office Counter.

Class of 2014! Do you want some input on the Sr. Best Categories the yearbook staff uses next year? Cast your vote for the categories on the yearbook page of the NHS Titans website by May 17!

For anyone participating in Powder Puff, there is a mandatory meeting at lunch in the Forum today. Be there or be in the bleachers! Forms and money must be turned in by May 7th to the Activities Office.

Clubs and Classes

Cal Poly hosted a music leadership conference on Saturday, May 4th. It was attended by Santos Pena, Cory Upham and Dylan Gillespie. Both Cory and Dylan were selected as first chair for their sections. Congratulations to our students for representing our school so well.

The Nipomo Titan Jazz Band will be performing at the Strawberry Festival on Sunday, May 26th at 10:30 AM. They will be at the stage in the Klondike parking lot. Make sure to make your way down to the festival to see them.

The final concert for the Jazz and Concert bands will be Thursday, May 29th at 7:00 in Olympic Hall. Tickets will be $5 each. Refreshments will be available. Make sure and buy a ticket from a band member.

Nipomo High School Dance Company presents their annual show, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” at the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande on May 17th and 18th at 7pm. Tickets are available in the Activities Office and at the Clark Center box office and website for $12.

Hey Renaissance students! The Renaissance Hawaiian pool party is Friday, May 17th! There will be a survivor competition. The first 16 people to sign up in the Activities Office will be able to play the game. Deadline is this Friday, May 10th.

The Robotics Club is looking for new members for the 2013-14 season. We build after school on Monday’s, Wednesdays and now Thursdays for newcomers only in room 116. Check with any team member or Mr. Gracia in room 106 if you have questions.

ETS will meet today at lunch in the computer lab.

Friday Night Live will meet in Mr. Deichler’s room, 134, today at lunch, so don’t be late!

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets today at lunch in room 105. Everyone is welcome.

Seniors / Scholarships

Hey Seniors! Come by room 112 to fill out your senior will if you haven’t yet! They are due by Friday, May 10th. If you do not turn one in, you will miss out on being in the newspaper.

The START Test for Allan Hancock College will be offered to seniors on Thursday, May 9th immediately after-school in the Library Computer Lab! Sign up with Mrs. Whitacre at the counseling desk to take the Assessment! You MUST apply to Hancock College BEFORE you can take the test. You will be required to have a Hancock student ID with you to take the assessment.

Laurus College Open House in San Luis Obispo is May 9th! Space is limited, so call to RSVP at (805) 267-1690 or RSVP on line at Lauruscollege.edu.

Do you have what it takes? Come be part of the Allan Hancock College cheer squad for 2013-14! Tryouts are May 10th from 5 – 8pm in Building N room N-15 at the backside of the gym on the Santa Maria campus. For more information, see flyer posted in Activities Office.

Sports

There is a wrestling team meeting today during break in the Gym. League Championship patches and summer info will be provided.

There will be a meeting this Friday at lunch in room 136 for all girls interested in playing volleyball next year.

Sports Clearance Packets are on sale now in the Activities Office. All potential student-athletes for this summer and next school year will need to have a current Clearance Card and physical on file. NHS Health Screenings are scheduled for Thursday, May 16, from 6-8pm. Total cost of the packet if you are attending the Health Screenings is $75.00, which includes your ASB sticker for next school year.
