General

Reminder to all students: If you are assigned Friday School and do not attend, the consequence will be lunch detention every day the following week and you must also make up the missed Friday School. The next consequence will be Saturday School and possible suspension that could include a meeting with your parents and a contract that would prevent you from participating in extracurricular activities. So, if you’ve been assigned Friday School, make sure you attend!

Students - Picture retakes are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10 in Staff Room 21 behind Olympic Hall. You will only be allowed to have pictures retaken if you bring your photo packet with you, or if you were absent on Aug 29.

Some ASB cards have been remade. Check with Mrs. Teixeira in Activities to see if yours is ready.

Homecoming Dance tickets are on sale now in the Activities Office. The cost is $10 with an ASB sticker and $15 without. Reminder: You must have all debts cleared to purchase a dance ticket.

Clubs and Classes

Juniors!
The PSAT Test will be given at NHS on Wednesday, October 16th. The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT college admissions test. When you take the PSAT, you are automatically entered into the National Merit Scholar Competition, one of the highest honors you can earn as an American High School student. The test will be administered from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the morning in the Forum. Tickets cost $20, and are available at the activities office. Interested freshman can purchase tickets as well.

Community Service Opportunities

The Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce is looking for students to work at the Chamber Clam Chowder booth, which includes serving customers and handling food. Shifts are 9:30-1:00 or 1:00-5:30 on Saturday & Sunday, October 20th & 21st. Shifts fill up fast, so hurry and contact Gina at Splash Cafe: 773-0539.

Students! Could you use some extra cash? Do you need community service hours? Then Nipomo High School needs YOU! As a paid tutor that is! If you would like to get your name on the Paid Tutor List, sign up with Mrs. Nunez in the counseling office ASAP! Indicate which subject areas you are able to tutor in, and get ready to make BANK or take care of those community service hours!

Come join with Key Club or volunteer on your own with the Food Bank to distribute food next Tuesday, October 8th, after school!
