Attention all NHS students! This Friday, December 6th during 2nd period, NHS ASB will be holding a Miracle Minute to help the people of the Philippines who were affected by typhoon Yolanda. What is a Miracle Minute? Well, you bring in your loose change, extra cash or any money you wish to donate and for one minute on Friday during 2nd period, your teachers will be collecting this money. We encourage everyone to donate if possible. You could help save a life.
Students! Did you know that you can take college classes at Allan Hancock and Cuesta College for free? At Hancock, students must be high school juniors or seniors and have a 2.5 GPA. At Cuesta, freshmen through seniors are eligible to apply. Cuesta offers many classes at its Arroyo Grande High School campus, and there are also many online courses available at both colleges like Automotive Fundamentals, Computer Programming, Criminal Justice, Beginning Guitar and LOTS more classes to choose from, and the classes give you college as well as high school credit! Make an appointment with your counselor to receive more info on how to register for these FREE college classes.
Titans show your “Excellence” and work towards worthwhile success by attending Saturday School this Saturday or next Saturday to prepare for worthwhile success for finals. This Saturday, Mr. Houchin, Mrs. Houchin, Mr. McConnell and later in the morning, Mrs. Hatfield will be available to help you. Pick up your Saturday School forms on the Activities Office counter. Bring completed form to the Library on Saturday at 8am.

It's that time of year again. Your down payment of $20 for your spring AP exam is due by Tuesday 12/17/13. If you have questions or are concerned about making your payment please see Mr. Dorn in room 142 ASAP. Order forms are available in the Activities Office.
NHS Theatre presents, "Rosencrantz & Gildenstern Are Dead", opening this week in Olympic Hall. This production runs for two weekends (Dec. 5-7, and Dec. 12-14).
Saturday Night Live meets today at lunch in room 134. New members are always welcome.
It’s early out, so the FIDM club will be meeting right after school in room 40A.
Anime Club is hosting a movie, “Howl’s Moving Castle”, today from 3-5 pm in room 137. Be sure to get your permission slip today from Mr. Thorshov in room 137.

Seniors! Nice job on getting those college applications submitted. Next step is getting some financial aid to help pay for college. Make sure that you and your parents attend Senior Parent Financial Aid Night, next Monday December 9th, from 6:30 - 8:00 in the forum. The financial aid process will be covered in detail, with special emphasis on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), and the Cal Grant.
Attention all artistic seniors! The ASB event “Deck the Halls” is coming up Monday, December 9th. There will be a meeting for seniors on Friday the 6th in the ASB room. Seniors will be decorating a Grinch–themed “Deck the Halls” and we need help! Anyone interested PLEASE head to the ASB room on Friday to rock this contest!
Hey Seniors - Do you know about the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarships? There will be 500 four-year scholarships awarded. The deadline is December 6th, so check it out on the school website in News and Announcements or in the Scholarship section. Seniors - You can't win scholarships if you don't play!
