General



Be sure you have a parking permit if you are driving to school. You may purchase one in the activities office for $15. Tickets will be issued to cars without permits. The fine is $20. Do the math….



There are 322 past due books out there right now!! If you have one of them, please return it to the library...don't make Mrs. Matsuura come hunt you down.



There will be no afterschool tutoring this week. We will resume on Tuesday, January 20th and I will have a set schedule for everyone by the end of this week.



Clubs and Classes



Poetry Out Loud winners: get your papers in to Mr. Shields (room 108) by this Friday!



Students! Would you like to take a Cuesta College class right here at Nipomo High School? The class, "Introduction to Workplace Readiness", is for you! You can earn 3 college credits and TEN, yes, TEN high school credits for completing the course. Come to a meeting today at 3:00 in Room 128 to sign up for the class.



If you are enrolled in Independent Study Health, there is a mandatory meeting at lunch on Wednesday, January 21st in room 117. You will be dropped from the class if you don’t show.



Second Semester Work Experience Students. Our first meeting of the year will be Wednesday, January 21st at 7:00 am in room 152.



Adventure Club meets today at lunch in room 114.



Sports


The most insane track event is pole-vault. A quick information meeting is this Friday in Mr. Shields's room, 108. This is for anyone interested in trying pole-vault and for all veteran pole-vaulters.



Interested in being on the swim team? There will be a swim meeting next Wednesday at lunch. Location to be announced.



All boys interested in Volleyball, please attend a meeting at lunch today in Mr. Pepo’s room, 40B.



NHS Girls Basketball is hosting a Hoops for Hope event, next Wednesday, January 21 for Cancer Awareness. JV Girls play at 5:00 and Varsity Girls play at 6:30pm. In an effort to raise awareness, join in on the efforts and wear PINK next Wednesday or purchase a Hoops for Hope $10 T-shirt from Mrs. Mendez available next week. Donations are still being accepted, see Mrs. Mendez for details.



Titans - Are you ready for some softball? Parents, get ready for a softball field workday on Saturday, January 17th, starting at 8:00 a.m. Bring tools and energy to help improve our facilities!



Official softball practice starts on Tuesday, January 20th at 3:15 pm for anyone interested in playing this year. Athletes participating in a winter sport are not expected to attend practice until their season ends.



Softball players and fans - Contact the coaches and stay up to date with Titan Softball by checking the school website athletics page - we'll be updating softball information often.



Today’s Sports:


Girls Wrestling will be at Santa Maria High for a Quad Dual match today starting at 4:30.


Girls Water Polo is swimming at home against St. Josephs. Varsity is at 3:00 and JV at 4:00.


Girls Soccer is also at home today vs Santa Maria. JV starts at 3:30 and Varsity is at 5:30.


Boys Soccer travels to Santa Maria and their games are JV at 3:30 and Varsity at 5:30.
