Graciela Maldonado, NHS's first Freshman winner, will be representing Nipomo on Thursday, 2/12, at the SLO County Poetry Out Loud competition at The Monday Club in San Luis Obispo from 7pm to 9pm. Eight local high school champions will recite two poems each. Five judges determine who will move onto the State Competition in Sacramento. Admission is free for a night of inspiring and moving performances by these talented students! Also, Shayna Andrews and Sarah Chapman will be doing the background music for the event.
Do you need some extra help raising your grades? Looking for a quiet place to get your homework finished? After school tutoring is available Monday-Friday from 3:00-4:00 in the Library. All are welcome.
Clubs and Classes
Come spread the love and support NHS Cheer by purchasing a candy gram for only a dollar! They go on sale from on Monday the 9th and will be sold until Wednesday the 11th. Candy Grams will be delivered to your valentine second period Thursday.
Hey Titans! Did you miss out on signing up for a club last semester? Well you’re in luck! You have another chance at noon on Wednesday the 11th! That’s right club goers, come out to the quad to join the club of your heart’s desire!
AP Students! You can now pay for your AP exams(s) in the Activity Office. $91 per exam or $53 per exam for students with letter showing they are qualified for Free Reduced Lunch program. See your AP teacher or Mr. Dorn in room 142 for more details.
Seniors
Seniors! Are you going to college next year? Then you should come to the "Cash for College Night" at the NHS Library between 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, February 9th. There will be financial aid experts on hand to help you complete and submit your FAFSA application. You could be eligible for thousands of dollars in financial aid to help pay for you college tuition, room and board, even books! Students planning on attending Hancock and Cuesta should attend as well!
Community Service
Tuesday, February 10, 2015 is Food Distribution Day at Nipomo Elementary School. Organizing begins at 1:30 and goes until about 6:15. If you can help out, please let Mrs. Brooks, school nurse, know which shift or shifts you'd like to work. We need help with all shifts.
