General


Be sure to congratulate the NHS Students of the Month for January. They are: Chloe Wasil, freshman; DJ Holt, sophomore; Tenessa Padilla, junior; Caitlin Tobin, senior. And your Teacher of the Month is Mr. Souza.



Interested in a CIF Football Championship T-shirt? Booster Club ordered shirts and are taking Pre-Sales this week and next week. Distribution of shirts, week of February 23. Reserve your shirt by placing your name on the list on Records office, counter. Pictures of the shirts are displayed on the Activities office window and Records Office. Today is the last day to sign up for Pre-Sales. First come, first served.




Do you need some extra help raising your grades? Looking for a quiet place to get your homework finished? Tutoring is now available Monday through Friday in the Library from 3:00 to 4:00.



Clubs and Classes



Are you interested in graphic design, photojournalism, or marketing and sales? Do you want to be a part of preserving the memories of the Nipomo High School 2015-2016 school year? Then apply to be a member of the Nipomo High School yearbook staff. Applications are available from your counselors or Mrs. Hatfield in room 150 and are due back to Mrs. Hatfield by Thursday, March 5th.



Hey Juniors! If you are considering applying to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo listen up! Cal Poly will be on campus next Friday, February 27th during 2nd period in the library. If you want to hear more about Cal Poly, please come to the counseling office to sign up and get a pass to give to your 2nd period teacher.



Attention all NHS students! Applications for Renaissance are available in the office from Mrs. Lattimer and are due no later than Friday, February 20th. No late applications will be accepted. Again, NO LATE applications will be accepted.


Attention AP Students: Deadline to pay for your AP Exams this year is February 27th. Please see Mr. Dorn in Room 142 with any questions.



Adventure Club meets every Thursday at lunch in room 114. Come join us today as we plan our next great adventure!




Seniors


If you completed your FAFSA or are planning to apply, there is one more step. The Cal Grant Verification Form MUST BE COMPLETED in order to have your GPA sent electronically by our school. Forms due by Monday 2/23. Blank forms available on Records office counter.



Seniors! Cuesta College counselors will be here on Monday Night, February 23rd, in the Library Computer Lab from 6:00 - 7:00. They will help you enroll for Cuesta College next fall, as well as apply for the Promise Scholarship, which will cover all of your tuition for you first year at Cuesta. Parents are welcome to attend. Don't miss this great opportunity!


Community Service



Dana Adobe is having their Spring Vendor Faire on March 7th. They are looking for students to help by working two hour shifts from 8:00 to 4:00. Food will be provided for volunteers. Some of the jobs will be routing vehicles and directing vendors to their booth spaces, unloading show materials, setting up booths and pop-up canopies and helping in general as directed. A sign-up sheet and more detailed information are located on the Activities Office counter.



Sports



Attention all Girls Water Polo players. Our end of season banquet will be Monday, February 23 at 5:30 in Olympic Hall. It is a pot luck and we need you to sign up for something to bring. Check with Elle Lopez for more information. See you there.




Here is what is going on for Nipomo High School Athletics this week (CIF Playoffs)........


Girls Basketball - The Titans are on the road playing at Banning High School today at 7pm.


Girls Soccer - The Titans are on the road at Oxnard High School today.


Girls Wrestling - Seven of our Titan Lady Wrestlers competed at CIF Masters this past weekend. Alexis Garcia was our top finisher at 6th place. With this outstanding finish she has qualified and will compete at the State Girls Wrestling Championships in two weeks.



Boys Wrestling - 12 Individual wrestlers will represent the Titans at the CIF Individuals this Friday/Saturday at Santa Maria High School.



Winter sports represented our school and community very well! Best of luck to all of our teams still competing!!

Girls Soccer players on the list you rec’d by email may be released after the end of 1st period (8:53 am) as they will be loading up the vans for their trip to Oxnard High School.
