Hey Nipomo High! Friday Night Live's Mock Rock Talent Show was a huge success! Special thanks to all our performers and their supporting fans! The winners will be performing at the county-wide Mock-Rock competition April 19th at Cal Poly Spanos Theatre. First place winner - The Arkadians, featuring Matt Ramsey. Second place - Carley Herlihy. These talented students will represent NHS at this spectacular Mock Rock. Hope to see you there!



Our 2nd annual Peeps diorama contest has begun!! All submissions are due by Tuesday, March 31st, and prizes include gift cards to In-N-Out burger, Regal Cinemas, and Barnes and Nobles!! Come by the library for more information.



Just a reminder – all students going to the Cuesta College Si Se Puede Conference need to have their permission slips with them and report directly to the bus loading zone east of Olympic Hall on Friday the 20th, no later than 7:45 am. Check in with Mrs. Kritz before boarding the bus.


Tutoring is available Monday through Friday in the Library from 3:00 to 4:00.


Students! Are you interested in a medical career? Then the Physician Mentoring program at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital and Marian Regional Medical Center is for you! The program runs from June through August. Students must be juniors or seniors and at least 17 years old by the summertime. Students will wear lab coats provided by the program and shadow physicians as they go about their daily rounds and medical procedures. See your counselor if you are interested in this fantastic opportunity!



Clubs and Classes


Congratulations to Zach Smith for being selected as the "Best of Show" winner at the El Camino Art Association's High School Art Exhibit held Monday night at the Clark Center. Zach featured a Raku fired ceramic mask titled "The Machinist."

Three other Nipomo High students were also honored as well.
Second place in 2-dimensional art went to Angelica Casias,
Second place in ceramics went to Beau Claverie, and
Honorable Mention in ceramics went to Samantha Dennu.
Congratulations to these excellent student artists and all who showed their fine art work at the event.



Juniors! Are you planning on applying to a four year college next year? Have you taken your SAT test yet? The deadline for the May 2nd test is April 6th. Sign up at www.collegeboard.org


Drama Performances this week:
The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) [Revised], will be performed tonight at 7:30 in Olympic Hall and again at 2pm Saturday.


Decision Height will be performed Saturday night at 7:30 in Olympic Hall.


Special Olympics is Friday, May 1st at Cuesta College. T-shirts are $10 and will be on sale beginning March 16th until April 2nd. Please see Mrs. Teixeira in the activities office to pay and leave your size. Shirts will be delivered the end of April. If there are any questions you can come see Mrs. McColley in the 200 building.


Upward Bound is now accepting applications for the 2015-16 school year and its six week summer residential program! If you want help getting prepared for college, studying for the SAT’s, visiting college campuses and making lifelong friends pick up an application with your counselor, or with Mrs. Teixeira in the activities office today!


Attention juniors and sophomores! Link Crew applications for next year are out. Pick one up on the Activities Office counter or Mr. Shorba’s room, 40D. Applications are due today at 3:00pm to Mr. Shorba. No late applications will be accepted.


Seniors


Please be sure to check the “do you know what you owe” list posted in the Activities Office. All outstanding debts must be cleared in order for you to participate in any Senior activities!


Grad Night tickets are on sale now through April 17th. Purchase them from Mrs. Teixeira for $73! Prices will go up after April 17th to $80. The first 100 people to buy their tickets will receive a free ticket to the drama performance Frog and Toad.


Seniors-Senior shirts and sweatshirts are on sale NOW! Shirts are $10 and sweatshirts are $20. Pick up a form from your Gov’t or Econ teacher or on the Activities Office Counter. Last day to purchase shirts and sweatshirts is Friday, March 27th.


Yearbook is ready for your Now & Then photos. You can email them to Mrs. Hatfield at [email protected] or put originals in Hatfield’s box with your name on the back. Photos are due today!


Community Service


Looking for volunteers to help at the Nipomo Recreation Kids Day event on Saturday, March 28. Community service hours available from 8-3pm. Please call Nancy at Nipomo recreation at 929-5437 to get on the list of volunteers for that day.


Sports


Titan Spirit squad try outs will be Tuesday 3/24-Friday 3/27. We are currently looking for cheerleaders AND a jazz spirit team! Spirit Packets are available online or in the Activities Office. Please return completed packet to box in Activities Office no later than Monday, 3/24 at 3:30! See Ms. Shakeri in room 129 for more details or email nhs titan spirit @ gmail.com.
