General


Tonight is an event you don’t want to miss!! Come to the NHS gym at 7:00 to watch Mr. Edwards, Mr. Denno, Mr. Neff, Mr. Deichler, Mr. David, Mr. Veloz, Coach Mendez and other local “celebrities” and alumni play in the game of the century against the Harlem Ambassadors! Tickets are available in the Activities Office and will be sold at the door. Adults are $10 and students are $5. Proceeds will go to the Nipomo High School Boosters and the Nipomo Lions Club for scholarships for our students.


Check out the new “Do You Know What You Owe” list posted in the Activities Office window. Please take care of any student debt or outstanding textbooks as soon as possible. You must be clear to purchase Prom tickets or participate in Senior activities. Several coaches and advisors have added debts to student accounts this week.


Hey Titans! The last day to guarantee your copy of the 2015 yearbook is today. Pre-orders will no longer be sold after Friday and remaining books will be sold on a first come, first served basis at the end of the year. Quantities will be limited so reserve your copy today in the Activities Office….$75 with ASB sticker, $80 without.


Tutoring is available Monday through Friday in the Library from 3:00 to 4:00.


Summer school applications are now available in the counseling office! Students you may need to repeat a class or want to take a class to get ahead (government or economics). Summer school is June 23rd-July 30th this year, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at Mesa Middle School. Pick up an application, fill it out and return it to the counseling office to reserve a spot. See Mrs. Lewis or Mr. Hubbell if you have questions.


Are you thinking about your future? Want to learn more about a variety of careers? Come to Career Talks in room 129 during the month of May! There will be a number of presenters including a NASA engineer, Real Estate Agents, Veterinarians, and a Paramedic. Sign up in the Activities office! Want more info? See Ms. Sheridan (room105), Ms. Shakeri (room 129), or Ms. Li (room 144). Check posters around school for a calendar of dates & presenters!


Have you ever wanted to BE the change you want to see in this world? Right now AFS intercultural programs is offering 50% off the cost of their New Global Prep summer programs. Learn a new language in a foreign country and receive the education of a life time. A representative from AFS will be on campus Tuesday, May 12th. She will have a table on the quad at lunch, and will be giving a presentation during 5th period in the library computer lab. A sign-up sheet and presentation passes are available in the library.


Clubs and Classes


Attention Renaissance Students! Get pumped for the fiesta pool party May 15th! Starts at lunch. Come get tri-tip and enjoy the pool and fun games. See you there!


Robotics Meeting at lunch today in room 30C for all newcomers interested in joining. We are looking for students for; web design and maintenance, social media, marketing, photography, builders, and programmers. Come be a part of our team as we compete against the world.


Juniors: The deadline to register for the June 13th ACT College Admissions test is today. Sign up at actstudent.org, or see your counselor for more details.


Hey Everyone! Dance Company auditions are right around the corner! Come pick up an audition packet from Ms. Belo in the dance room, 103 if you are interested in trying out!


Juniors! Are you planning on going to a four year college? Yes? Then you need to take the SAT! The next test date is Saturday, June 6th. Sign up online at SAT.org/register. The deadline is toay. See your counselor if you have any questions.


Seniors


SENIORS!
There are still a few scholarships available. See Mrs. Lattimer in Counseling for more information. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by!


Seniors! Are you going to Cuesta next fall? If you have applied, taken the assessment test, and completed your online orientation, you can sign up for your fall classes starting TODAY! Yes, you heard right. Today! If you would prefer to wait and go to the in person orientation at Cuesta on May 15th, sign up in the counseling office. There are only 20 slots available for the in-person orientation, so reserve your spot now! The bus will leave at 9:00 on the 15th and be back in time for the Renaissance Pool party. See Mr. Hubbell or Mrs. Lewis for more information.


Please be advised that after today all payments made to the Activities Office must be cash or debit/credit cards. No checks will be accepted from seniors after May 8th.


Additional cap, gown and grad items have been delivered. Please check to see if yours is here in the Activities Office.


If you have not ordered your cap and gown, get the form from the counter in the Activities Office or go to www.centralcalgrads.com . Time is running out!!!


Hey Seniors! Senior Showcase tryouts have been moved to May 11th in the Forum after school. If you have any questions, please talk to Mr. McConnell.


Speaker at large auditions will be on May 12th. If you are interested, talk to Mr. McConnell today!


The Nipomo Lions are offering a scholarship in the value of $1000 and two additional scholarships at $500 dollars each. Applications are available online and need to be submitted by May 15. The link is https://docs.google.com/a/lmusds.org/forms

All boys interested in playing football next year, come to an informational meeting on Tuesday at lunch in the Forum. Calendars will be given out.


Boys Tennis Team banquet is set for Monday, May 11 at 6 pm in the NHS Library. It is potluck and team members have their food assignments. Please come and bring your families to celebrate the closing of a great year.
