General

Titans, your attendance for this week and library fees will be posted on Monday for your viewing inside Olympic Hall, Library, main office, outside Olympic Hall, and outside the Forum. Keep yourselves informed on your attendance, financial obligations, and grades; check your homelink accounts or look up your information in the reports mentioned before. Knowledge is power. Go Titans.

Do you know what you owe? If you have a student debt that you have not taken care of, please stop by the Activities Office to check the list. Unpaid debts may affect your participation in extra-curricular activities.

Intramurals will begin on Wednesday, September 9th. Come on out to the gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for some pick-up basketball. Sports offered will rotate depending on student interest. All are invited to join in.

Parking permits are available for $15 in the Activities Office. Non permitted vehicles will be ticketed beginning sometime in September.

Clubs and Classes

Attention Nipomo High School Clashers! Do you Clash? Join the Titan Clash of Clans Club for our first meeting on Monday September 7th at lunch in room 40C. #clashislife

Attention nature lovers, tree-huggers and adventurers! September 12th is the first dune hike of Nipomo High’s very own Conservation Club. NHS Independent Study PE students please meet in the library computer lab today at lunch.

Are you interested in a career in the medical field? Would you like to "try out" the career before choosing a major or college? If so, there is a year-long (approximately 4 hours per week) job shadowing opportunity at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria. Don’t wait! Volunteen applications must be received at Marian Medical Center Volunteer Services Office today, September 4th! Interested students should pick up applications from either Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Kia or Mr. Hubbell in the counseling office.

Students! Do you want to take a Cuesta College class right here on the NHS Campus! The class is called "Introduction to Workplace Readiness.” It will meet after school in the Forum on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 5:55 in Room 128. Please make sure you have your social security number with you when you come to the class. The class will run from September 2 to November 4th. See you counselor for more details.

Community Service

Attention Students! Do you need Community Service Hours? The Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce has a fun way for you to complete them! The 69th Annual Pismo Beach Clam Festival is taking place October 17th and 18th, and we are needing volunteers to work in the Pismo Chamber Chowder Booth. Shifts are from 4-7 hours from 10 AM – 5 PM. Duties include serving chowder, handling money and helping customers. To sign up, please email [email protected]

Have fun and make a difference in a kid’s life by joining Big Brothers Big Sisters this year! Earn community service hours while enjoying sports, crafts, and games with a Nipomo Elementary buddy every Friday from 3:30 to 4:30. Volunteering looks great on college and job applications and Big Brothers Big Sisters also provides letters of recommendation. A table will be set up in the quad during lunch today with Big Brothers Big Sisters representatives answering questions, taking sign-up info, giving out brochures, enrollment reminders, and application packets. Stop by to learn more about becoming a mentor.

Tuesday, September 8th is food distribution at Nipomo Elementary and volunteers are needed from 3-6, to help with food distribution.

Sports

Girls soccer players – there will be a team meeting at 3:00 on Wednesday the 16th, out on the practice field. If you are interested in playing this year, please come.

Attention all ladies interested in playing softball this upcoming spring season, come to an informational meeting on Tuesday at lunch, September 8th, in room 40C.

Planning on playing sports this year? Be sure to purchase your Sports Clearance Packet in the Activities Office. The $40 you pay includes the cost of your ASB card!

The annual Dig for Delaney Alumni Girls Vollyball game is this Saturday, September 5th @ 5:00 in the NHS Johnson Gym. A $5.00 donation will get you in to see the NHS Alumni take on this year’s Varsity team. Baked goods will be available for purchase. The snack bar will also be open selling hot dogs and tri tip sandwiches. All proceeds go to the Spirit of Sport Scholarship for Senior Girls Volleyball players.
