Attention Titans! Do you sometimes feel as though new technology is taking away from good conversations? Next time you have a family meal, put down your phone and turn off the T.V. so you can have quality time with your family. And remember Titans, Every Monday Matters.





Join in on our “Surf’s Up” Spirit Week starting March 14th. Today is Sunglasses/Hat day. Wear a school appropriate hat and your favorite pair of shades. Remember, sunglasses are only to be worn outside of the classroom! Tuesday is Fruit Day. Dress up like your favorite fruit and wear a solid color. Wednesday is Lifeguard/Red day. Wear lifeguard attire or red. Thursday is Tacky Tourist Day. Whip out your socks and sandals, camera and fanny packs. Friday is Wave Day. Wear blue, beach or Hawaiian attire and don’t forget your floaties! Surf’s up Nipomo!



Library News - The winner of last week’s Loot Crate drawing is Abbie Hennek! Congratulations Abbie…stop by the library to pick out your prize. Remember every time you return your library book on time you can enter to win a prize from Mrs. Matsuura’s Loot Crate Prize cabinet!! A winner is drawn every Friday.

Our 3rd annual Peeps Diorama contest is in full swing! Entries are due by this Friday and winners will be announced next week. Prizes included movie tickets and gift cards to In-N-Out Burger and Barnes and Noble! Head to the library for more information.









Clubs and Classes



Hey Renaissance students! Did you forget to pick up your perk card? If so, you can pick it up at Mrs. Latimer’s desk in the counseling office.



Interested in joining the ASB executive council next year? If so, Executive Officer election packets are out and on the Activities Office counter. They are due no later than Thursday, March 17th. Only next year’s Juniors and Seniors can apply.



Are you interested in graphic design, photography, journalism or marketing? Do you want to have a part in creating the 2017 NHS yearbook? Applications are available from your counselor and are due to Ms. Hatfield no later than March 18th. Come join our team….we’re a lot of fun.



All NHS juniors will be taking the ASVAB test on Tuesday, March 22nd. Juniors will need to report to their 1st period class and then walk over to the gym by 8 am. The test will give student results based on student career interests and abilities. The results will not be released to the military! A letter has been sent home informing families of juniors about this great opportunity.




Tomorrow evening, our Titan musicians perform in Olympic Hall at 6:00pm for our Top O' the Mornin' Spring Concert. This event will showcase the Choir, Pep Band, Jazz Combo, and Pop Music groups performing an array of music from Adele and Of Monsters and Men to the poetry of Robert Burns. Tickets are $5 for students/Staff, $7 for adults. We greatly appreciate the support from staff - the students light up following concerts when they proudly talk about who came. We would be honored to perform for you - please come join us for a solid night of music!



You are cordially invited to the NHS/ AGHS Student Art Show at the Clark Center, March 14, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Stop by and see some fabulous art!



Special Olympics Best Buddies-- Practices will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during 5th Period. See Mr. Hubbell for more details.



Attention sophomores: NHS will be offering the PLAN test to all interested sophomores on Thursday March 17th. The PLAN test is a preliminary ACT test, and is a great opportunity to practice for the ACT. Stop by the activities office to register for the test. There is a $20 test fee. Please see your counselor if you have any questions.



15 spots still available for the Health Science Presentation on Friday, March 18th during 5th period in the forum. Sign-up sheet will be available until spots are filled or until March 15th end of lunch. Sign-up in the counseling office today!







It’s that time again! Special Olympics! The Special Olympics will be held on May 6th. Please come support your Nipomo athletes if you are free! If you are interested in purchasing one of our shirts to support the students of room 200, please see Mrs. Teixeira in the activities office. Sizes run from adult small to 2XL and will cost $10.00. Shirts go on sale March 1st!





Seniors



Seniors who plan on going to Cuesta next year. Cuesta will be here on Wednesday, March 16th, to give their Placement Test. The test will be 1st and 2nd periods in Room 128. You must have registered with Cuesta to take the test. Sign up for a spot in the counseling office.



Attention Seniors! If you are interested in going to our Grad Nite at Harry Potter World, you have until the end of this week to get yourself signed up. If you need help getting the money together, see Mr. McConnell in room #113. Again, time and space is limited, so sign up now or miss out on this fun opportunity!



Seniors who took the Hancock College START Placement test--

There will be an Academic Advising Workshop during 1st period today (from 9:00-9:45). After attending the presentation, students will meet individually with the Hancock Counselors to plan their schedule for next year. Sign up for your individual appointment in the Nipomo High Counseling office. Bring your START Placement results with you to your appointment.

Community Service



Kids Day at the Park Volunteers are needed on Saturday, March 19th. Hours available are 8 am to 3pm on Saturday March19th. Text Nancy at 714-8515 if interested in community service hours or call Nipomo Recreation office at 929-5437.



Sports



March is National Athletic Training month. Nipomo High School wants to thank our athletic trainer, Amy Silveira, for overseeing the health and safety of our athletes throughout the school year. To celebrate, please help Amy collect your unused athletic shoes throughout the month of March. They will be sent to One World Running, a non-profit organization that provides shoes to those in need in the US and abroad. Items may be dropped off after school in Mrs. Silveira’s office. Please see Amy for more information.
