General

The Just One Job Fair is coming to Nipomo High School. Thursday, May 19 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm, local employers will be available in Olympic Hall to meet students and consider you for a summer job. You must be 16 or older to attend and you must bring copies of your resume to give to prospective employers. For a list of employers see Mrs. Cummings, Mrs. Lemons, Mr. Rodrigues, Mr. Gracia, Mr. Pole, Mr. Lindgren, Mrs. Cooper, or Mr. Magdaleno.

Students, the big moment is finally here! Summer school applications are now available in the counseling office! Classes fill up fast, especially Government and Econ, so turn yours in asap!

T minus 5 days until Prom! Come join us at the Golden Ball. Ticket sales will end tomorrow, yes tomorrow! NO EXCEPTIONS. The cost is $45 with an ASB card and $50 without.

Do you know what you owe? Don’t be ineligible for all the upcoming activities! Check with the Activities Office to make sure your debts are paid.

Library News - The winner of last week’s Loot Crate drawing is Christian Ponce! Congratulations Christian…stop by the library to pick out your prize. Remember every time you return your library book on time you can enter to win a prize from Mrs. Matsuura’s Loot Crate Prize cabinet!! A winner is drawn every Friday.

The Library is hosting Bingo after school this Wednesday. Prizes include books, Loot crate items, gift certificates and more! Everyone is welcome and it’s FREE!

Clubs and Classes

GSA meets today at lunch in room 135. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Leo Club Meeting at Lunch at the Forum on Thursday! We will be doing officer nominations for next year. So stop by and nominate yourself or a friend. See you Thursday! Coach Edwards.

Reminder to Book Club members…we are having a Potluck lunch in the library today.

Dance Company auditions are this week! Girls audition Wednesday May 18th or Thursday May 19th and guys audition Friday May 20th. Turn your application into Ms. Belo in the girl’s locker room or room 103 ASAP!

Juniors, Titan Honor Court applications are due tomorrow to Mrs. Anderson. Applications must be complete. No late or incomplete applications will be accepted. Remember you must be in good academic standing with no D's or F's and have excellent attendance. Questions? See Mrs. Anderson or Mr. McConnell.

Seniors

If you did not pick up your Jostens order, you may pick your order up in the Activities Office. Orders recently paid in full will be delivered to the Activities Office. Check to see if yours has arrived.

Community Service

Grover Heights Elementary school is in need of students looking to finish their community service volunteer hours. We have our end of the year celebration with a silent auction on May 20, 2016 from 5-8pm at the Avila Valley Barn. Fairgrove Elementary is looking for volunteers at their annual school Carnival on May 20, 2016 from 3-8 pm if any students who need service hours would like to come help. Contact [email protected] if you are interested.

Sports

The Clash of the Titans 3-on-3 basketball tournament will start this week in the gym at lunch! Check the bulletin board by Olympic Hall to see the brackets. Can anybody beat the teacher team of Matt “Dr. Dunkenstein" David, Mike "Drop Step" Pepo, and P.J. "The Pistol" Deichler?

Attention boys interested in playing JV Boys Basketball for the summer: JV tryouts to make the summer team are on Saturday, May 21st from 2:30-4:30 in Johnson Gym. Be prepared to compete as that is the only day of tryouts. See you there. Coach Lundberg

Athletics Clearance Night for the 2016-17 school year is thisThursday night, May 19th from 6-8pm in the NHS Gym. Purchase your clearance packets in advance from Mrs. Teixeira at NHS or Ms. Lujano at CCNTHS. $80 for clearance packet with physical night. $45 for clearance packet without clearance night if you are going to your own doctor for physical. Both costs include your ASB Sticker purchase.



All athletes must have clearance to participate in any practices, including summer. Get in and purchase your packet AND come to the clearance night event on May 19.

Come support your 9 NHS football players who are playing in the FCA All-Star game this year at AG High on June 4th at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Coash Dodge or any football player.

All freshmen, sophomores and juniors who want to play football next year, Spring Football starts Friday, May 20th. Bring your cleats and shorts and meet at the practice field by 3:15. You must have a sports clearance packet turned in to participate. See you there!

Swimmers had a stellar meet last week at CIF. Three swimmers (Alayna Gocke, Wyatt Marsalek and Austin Simpson) have advanced to the State Meet which takes place this Friday and Saturday at Clovis West High. These are the first three swimmers to ever represent NHS at the State Swim Meet. Boys tied for first going into the 500s and finished 4th overall. Other swim results are as follows:

Track and Field will be represented at CIF Finals this weekend by Jordynn Dorado (shot put, finished in 2nd place at prelims) and Garrett Morgan (800 meters, won his prelim heat).

Still continuing on in CIF playoffs is tennis player Jon Johnson and Girls Softball.

Varsity Softball plays in a CIF Wild Card game at Bell Gardens High School today at 3:15.
