Hey Titans!
Come out to the quad today at break and lunch to vote for Homecoming King and Queen. Voting is open to all grade levels. Our Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned tonight at the Homecoming Game...see you there.


Picture Retake Day is Wednesday, October 12th. If you missed the first picture day, make sure you go! Pictures must be on file in order to get an ASB or ID card. Order forms are available in the office lobby and at the Activities Office.

The library will be closed today due to construction.

Do you want to make money? Are you interested in having your own business one day? Do you need to be inspired and motivated to start planning your career? If you said yes to any of these questions, sign-up in the counseling office today to attend the Entrepreneurship Presentation held on Wednesday, November 9th in the Forum during periods 2 and 3. Do you like math or computers? Are you interested in space technology? Would you like to hear from great speakers who have worked for NASA and helped to develop the 1st GPS? If so, sign-up in the counseling office to attend the Engineering and Computer Science Presentation to be held in the Forum on Wednesday, November 2nd during either 4th or 5th period. Clubs and Classes

The French Club is having their first meeting today at lunch in room 118. You don’t have to know French to enjoy the French Culture. Don’t forget to bring your lunch or food to share.

Calling all Frisbee fans…We will be playing Ultimate Frisbee today at 3:00 on the athletic fields next to the girls’ softball diamond. Bring water, running shoes and a desire to run!

Juniors! The PSAT/NMSQT Test is being offered on Wednesday, October 19th at Nipomo High School. Juniors who want to enter the National Merit Scholarship Competition must take the test on that day. The October PSAT Test is your last chance to practice for the SAT which you will be taking in the spring for the first time. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in the Activities Office.

Seniors

Who wants to make hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars in one hour!? I'm talking to you seniors. The NHS Scholarship page is up and running and ready for your one hour of hard work to get cash for college or your vocational school. There are 6 scholarship applications just waiting for YOU to complete. These include the NHS Scholarship application which makes you eligible for loads of local scholarships, the Voices of Democracy app, the Ocean/Five Cities Elks App and more. Applications are available on our website in the Academics Tab under scholarships or in the counseling office. The sooner you turn yours in the more scholarships will be available to you! Seniors...Cuesta College is hosting "Cuesta Promise Day" on Friday, October 21st, from 9:30 - 1:00 pm. There will be free lunch, free t-shirts, giveaways throughout the day, campus tours, and an open house with faculty and departments. You will also hear all about the Cuesta Promise Scholarship, which guarantees you will have all tuition and fees paid your first year at Cuesta if you go there! Wow! Free money? Sign up in the counseling office!

The deadline for the SAT November 5th test is today. Sign up at collegeboard.org. See your counselor for more details.

All seniors filling out the FAFSA or the Dream Act application, first make an appointment with Mrs. Nunez or Mrs. Lattimer in the counseling office then come to the career center on Mondays, all day, during the Fall semester to see Lizbeth Mendoza from Cal SOAP. Both the FAFSA and Dream Act applications opened on Oct. 1st.

Community Service

The Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce needs helpers at the 70th Annual Pismo Beach Clam Festival on October 22nd and 23rd to work in the Pismo Chamber Chowder booth. Shifts are 4-7 hours from 10am – 5pm. Duties include serving chowder, handling money and helping customers. If interested, sign up by email to [email protected] or call 773-0539 and ask for Gina.

Come out for our 33rd Annual Nipomo's Best October-Fest on October 15th and 16th. Events include the Dave Dana Memorial Car Show, live entertainment, kid’s activities, pony rides, BBQ Competition, food and fun!

Speaking of fun, The Fun Run is on Saturday, October 15, 2016, in Nipomo at the park. This is the only SCYC fundraiser for youth scholarships that we give the schools for field trips, camps, sports, and enrichment activities for students who can't afford the fees. Throughout the school year money can be requested from SCYC. Please consider joining us or making a donation for the scholarship fund.

Congratulations to Nipomo Titans Varsity Cross Country teams! Both boys and girls swept the Los Padres league dual cross country meet Wednesday at Cabrillo! Made up of both Nipomo and New Tech students, the girls and boys varsity's both had perfect scores at 7 to 0 against all the other Los Padres school schools! And that's not even the end of the story as both of our JV teams finished third overall!

Come on out to the Homecoming Football Game tonight to see your mighty Titans take on Templeton! There will be an exciting halftime filled with homecoming floats and the crowning of this year’s Homecoming King and Queen! Don’t miss it!

Calling all Titans! Don't miss the BIG Girl’s Volleyball game against Santa Ynez on Tuesday. 1st place is on the line! Get your face painted in the gym lobby at 5:00...The game starts at 5:30. JD Damm, Josh Buchon and Company will be making some noise in the student cheering section called Mt. Olympus! Let's do this!
